Total Control Racing has revealed its first driver for the 2019 Ginetta Junior championship.
14-year-old Theo Edgerton will continue with TCR for his first full season in car racing, after making his Ginetta debut in the final round of the 2018 championship.
Edgerton retired from his debut race at Brands Hatch last season, and was unable to compete in the final two races of the weekend. But he returned to the Kent circuit for the Ginetta Junior Winter Series, where he put in a strong performance which he hopes to continue into the main championship.
“I’m obviously very excited about the season ahead, especially after the really positive results from the Winter Series,” he said. “I am delighted to be continuing with Total Control Racing who have shown how they can bring on inexperienced drivers like myself quickly.”
TCR ran six drivers over the course of the 2018 season, including two full-time drivers, Patrick Kibble and Ruben del Sarte. They finished fourth and fifth in the overall championship, with Kibble the second highest rookie.
Team boss Lee Brooks is confident the success can continue with Edgerton.
“We as a team are really delighted that Theo Edgerton is joining us for the 2019 Michelin Ginetta Junior championship,” he said. “He has shown that he is very quick on track and impressed with his rookie wins in the Winter Series.
“Theo and his family are a real pleasure to deal with and, with the extra testing they’re committing to, he’s going to be ready to hit the ground running come the opening rounds at Brands Hatch.”
