Ginetta has revealed details for its 2020 Ginetta Junior Scholarship competition.
The scholarship has helped fund young drivers taking their first step onto the car racing ladder. Since 2011, drivers such as Sennan Fielding, Jamie Chadwick, and Dan Harper have taken the prize, earning a fully funded season in the Ginetta Junior Championship.
As well as entry into next year’s championship, the scholarship winner will earn the use of a Ginetta Junior car for the whole season, professional car preparation for every race meeting, insurance throughout the season, season supply of race tyres and fuel, and a Ginetta branded race suit.
This year’s competition will take place at Blyton Park from the 28th to 30th of October.
Each competitor must take part in one of the two qualification days on the 28th and 29th of October, where they will be assessed on their driving, fitness, and media skills.
Ginetta isn’t only looking for fast drivers, but has stressed the importance of qualities such as a willingness to learn, determination, and progression throughout the day.
The top 10 drivers from each day will progress to the final on the 30th of October, with the winner revealed at the end of the day.
The judging panel will be made up of drivers who have progressed through the motorsport ladder, while ITV4 commentator Richard John Neil and Ginetta in-house personal trainer Richard Chessman will sit in on the media and fitness assessments respectively.
To be eligible for the competition, a driver’s date of birth must fall between 01/01/2004 and 21/03/2006, and they must not have previously competed in an MSA circuit car race. Test days are available before the event.
