2012 Ginetta Junior champion Charlie Robertson will join Ginetta’s LMP1 team for the 2019-20 World Endurance Championship opener at Silverstone.
Robertson is one of six drivers to be confirmed for Ginetta’s two-car line-up, joining Ben Hanley and Egor Orudzhev in the Team LNT #5 Ginetta G60-LT-P1.
The 22-year-old already has experience in the G60-LT-P1, having made his debut in the WEC with the car last year, when he competed with CEFC TRSM Racing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“I’m absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to race the Ginetta LMP1 again,” he said.
“I was very proud to be part of the winning crew the last time Ginetta debuted an LMP car at Silverstone. We’ll be pushing hard to get as close as possible to matching that result.
“It’s amazing to have climbed every single step of the Ginetta ladder from Juniors back in 2011 to LMP1 now – what a ride, and what a credit to the Ginetta brand.”
Robertson made his car racing debut in Ginetta Juniors in 2011. He finished second in the championship behind a dominant Seb Morris, and returned to the series for a second year in 2012. After a close battle with Sennan Fielding, Robertson came out on top in his sophomore year.
From there he progressed to the GT4 SuperCup, taking the title in 2014.
In 2015, Robertson made the step up to endurance racing with the European Le Mans Series. Joining Sir Chris Hoy in the #3 Ginetta-Juno LMP3, he took three class victories and was crowned LMP3 champion.
Since then, Robertson has competed in a number of endurance racing events, and started his 2019 season with a fourth place in the 24 Hours Nurburgring.
