James Taylor secured the 2019 Ginetta Junior Winter Series crown with a clean-sweep of victories at Brands Hatch.
Taylor couldn’t quite manage as dominant a win as he did through the first three races of the weekend, resisting pressure from Joel Pearson throughout the second half of the race, but held on to take the victory 0.166s ahead of the R Racing driver.
Despite starting on pole, Taylor was releaged to third off the line, with rookie Aston Millar and Zak Taylor passing him before the opening corner.
Millar and Zak Taylor swapped places a handful of tiems in the opening lap, with James Taylor and Pearson close behind.
A mistake from Zak Taylor dropped the Alastair Rushforth Racing driver down the order, allowing James Taylor to close in on Millar’s tail.
Millar defended well, but the Elite Motorsport driver was able to dive past the rookie going into Paddock Hill bend, with Pearson following him through.
Millar tried to stay with the pair, but Taylor and Pearson were able to pull away and Millar turned to defending against Bailey Voisin and Daniel Gale.
Pearson spent the second half of the race trying to find a way to deny Taylor the perfect weekend, but Taylor didn’t put a wheel wrong and was able to hold on to take the win.
He ends the weekend having led 52 of the 59 laps completed and was only three points off a perfect weekend (having lost points for race three pole position and fastest laps in races one and four).
Millar held onto third to completed the podium, less than a tenth of a second ahead of Voisin.
Gale took fifth, ahead of Ben Kasperczak, Zak Taylor, and Tom Edgar.
Tom Lebbon won the Hard Charger award, being the driver to make up the most positions over the course of the weekend. He held off Freddie Tomlingson to take 10th in race four, with William Aspin completing the order.
