R Racing will field a five car line-up for its first full season in the Ginetta Junior championship.
The Norfolk-based team joined the grid midway through last year, and immediately brought the fight to the more established names at the front of the field. In five rounds, R Racing claimed three victories, nine podium finishes, and multiple rookie podiums, helping Zak O’Sullivan to second in the championship standings.
After a successful Winter Series, in which Aston Millar claimed the Rookie title, the team heads into 2020 preparing to battle for the overall championship.
R Racing will field four second-year drivers – Josh Rattican, Joel Pearson, Bailey Voisin, and Freddie Tomlinson – as well as rookie star Aston Millar.
Rattican, Pearson, Voisin, and Millar all have experience competing in the championship with R Racing, while Tomlinson will be racing with the team for the first time at Donington Park in March.

“Everyone at R Racing is extremely happy to be returning to the Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship with such a strong driver line-up for 2020,” said team principal Jamie Ross.
“Nathan and I have a lot of years combined working in the series, but only one year as team owners.
“We feel it was a very successful first season for the team in 2019 and I would like to thank everyone involved. Following a successful season, it’s only natural to want to have another and I feel that we are well equipped to do so.
“With Joel, Aston, Josh, Bailey, and Freddie behind the wheel, we have five drivers who are all capable of challenging at the front of the field. Our main sponsor STAUFF UK have also extended their support into this season. They are a huge part in making all this happen for us, so a massive thank you to John and Iain at STAUFF.”
Rattican and Millar both joined the team when it made its Ginetta debut at Snetterton last year. Rattican went on to complete the remainder of the season with the team, picking up 11 top 10 finishes and a best result of fifth, while Millar competed in two more rounds to ensure his position as a rookie in 2020.
Despite his limited experience, Millar has already proven himself a strong driver. He picked up a fifth place and a rookie podium at Silverstone, and finished third overall in the Winter Series.
Pearson joined R Racing for the final three rounds of the championship, making the switch from Elite Motorsport. He achieved a fourth place finish at Brands Hatch with the team, and claimed two overall podium finishes at the track when the championship returned for the Winter Series in November.
Voisin and Tomlinson spent 2019 as team-mates at Douglas Motorsport, before Voisin moved to R Racing for the Winter Series. The Swiss driver had shown clear improvements over the course of 2019, which cumulated in his maiden overall podium at the Winter Series, where he claimed second in the third race of the weekend.
Tomlinson is aiming to build on the solid foundations laid in his rookie year, where he consistently finished inside the top 15 and scored a best result of 11th overall at Croft.
