All racing in the UK has been postponed until May 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Motorsport UK, acting on advice from the British government, confirmed the suspension of all racing activity following the outbreak.
The UK government has advised against all non-essential social contact and will withdraw emergency services from mass gatherings.
The suspension affects the first three rounds of the 2020 Ginetta Junior Championship, as well as the opening round of the British GT.
In a statement, Motorsport UK said:
“It is with regret that Motorsport UK is suspending all organising permits and Certificates of Exemption until at least 30 April 2020. The suspension follows the latest guidance issued by HM UK Government in response to the outbreak of COVID-19. This position will be constantly reviewed given prevailing information.
“As the National Governing Body, we would ask all Motorsport UK members to act responsibly and follow the Government’s guidance during this difficult time.
“We thank all of our members, organisers, officials, volunteers, staff, and their families for their support during these unprecedented times. We will continue to monitor the situation and will resume sporting activity as soon as we are able.”
TOCA, the British Touring Car Championship’s organising body, has expressed intentions to run all 10 BTCC meetings in a revised timetable, meaning the affected Donington Park, Brands Hatch, and Silverstone rounds could be rescheduled.
“Our firm intention is to run the full season of 10 events and we will work closely with the circuits and our stakeholders in order to reschedule new dates for all postponed events,” TOCA said in a statement.
“These will be confirmed and announced when there is further clarity regarding the eventual resumption of major sporting events.”
Thursday’s Ginetta launch test at Silverstone is currently scheduled to go ahead as planned, though the event is closed to the public.
