Bailey Voisin claimed his second Ginetta Junior victory of the season after holding off rookie Tom Lebbon in the opening race of the weekend at Brands Hatch.
The R Racing driver passed the pole sitter off the line but couldn’t shake Lebbon in the opening laps. Lebbon remained on Voisin’s tail, trying to pressure Voisin into a mistake on the opening lap.
A brief safety car period, brought out by an incident for Will Rochford, neutralised the action and brought Josh Rattican and Zak Taylor back onto the tail of the race leders, but neither would but up much of a challenge on the restart.
The top four broke away from the rest of the field before splitting into two battles as Taylor tried to get into the podium positions. Lebbon and Voisin both set fastest laps as they pulled wa from the P3 battle in the closing stages of the race.
Lebbon didn’t let off Voisin and attempted a lunge on the final lap but couldn’t make a way past.
Voisin took the victory 0.173s ahead of Lebbon, as Rattican held on to the final podium position.

Championship leader heading into the weekend Georgi Dimitrov had suffered a difficult qualifying session, which put him seventh on the grid. He made up a position on the opening lap when Aston Millar ran wide and dropped back, but was stuck behind Freddie Tomlinson after the safety car period.
Dimitrov, William Vincent, and Tommy Pintos kept the pressure on Tomlinson on the restart, before Dimitrov was finally able to find a way through. Vincent followed him, dropping Tomlinson back to seventh.
Dimitrov spent the remainder of the race closing onto the back of the race leaders, and was able to challenge Taylor late in the race. He finished just 0.247s behind the Alistair Rushforth Racing driver and climaed P5.
Vincent took sixth ahead of Tomlinson, who held off late attacks from Pintos.
Seb Hopkins and Joel Pearson completed the top 10.
