Bailey Voisin managed two late safety car periods to take his fourth victory of the season at Knockhill.
Voisin had extended a gap of more than five seconds over the battle for P2 when Aston Millar span at the hairpin. The R Racing driver dipped his rear wheels into the gravel, prompting the safety car, but the marshals were swiftly able to push him back on track.
Tom Lebbon had won the earlier battle for second and was on Voisin’s tail when racing resumed, but was unable to stick with the R Racing driver on the restart.
The field had managed three corners before Will Jenkins span after contact with another driver while defending third place.
Jenkins had enjoyed a brilliant drive up from eighth in the grid and had briefly run second early in the race as he, Lebbon, and the R Racing drivers swapped positions. The Privateer had been on for his best result of the season when contact put him into the gravel and out of the race.
Once the car was clear, racing resumed for a one lap shoot out. Lebbon was able to stick with Voisin on the second restart and Voisin was forced to defend for the first time during the race. However, with Joel Pearson close behind, Lebbon couldn’t put up a serious challenge and took the chequered flag 0.465s behind Voisin in second.
Pearson took third ahead of Tom Edgar and Josh Rattican.
Georgi Dimitrov had started the race second but was shuffled backwards early on and finished sixth.
Freddie Tomlinson took seventh, head of Liam McNeilly, Josh Miller and Seb Hopkins.
