Rattican claims maiden Junior victory at Knockhill

Josh Rattican clinched his maiden Ginetta Junior victory in a frantic final race of the weekend at Knockhill.

Rattican had run side by side with pole sitter Georgi Dimitrov through multiple corners when he was forced wide by the Richardson Racing driver. He managed to stay in control of the R Racing run Ginetta as he ran through the gravel and returned to the track just ahead of Dimitrov.

He gave Dimitrov room to come back through as he returned to the track, but Dimitrov stayed behind and Rattican secured the lead.

The battle continued behind him as scholarship winner Tom Lebbon battled the rest of the R Racing stable and Dimitrov for the runner up position. Through most of the race the battle for second stayed close to Rattican, but he set consistent flying laps and was able to edge out a gap.

Lebbon emerged in front of the battle for second after a move around the outside of the hairpin, but was kept under pressure by title rival Baileyu Voisin. Voisin tried to force a mistake from the rookie but Lebbon defended well to take second and cut into Voisin’s championship lead. He now lies just four points behind Voisin in the championship standings with five rounds remaining.

Will Jenkins enjoyed a storming drive up through the order, avoiding the drama from earlier races to finish fourth, just ahead of Aston Millar and Joel Pearson.

A wide moment for Dimitrov in the closing stages of the race dropped the Richardson Racing driver down the order and outside the top 10. He was able to makeup a handful of positions to finish seventh overall.

Liam McNeilly and Josh Miller took eighth and ninth while Tommy Pintos came out on top of a frantic wheel to wheel battle with Trennon Bettany to complete the top 10.
