Voisin on top in Croft qualifying

Bailey Voisin takes his fifth and sixth pole positions of the season with an impressive performance at Croft.

The R Racing drover topped the times early in the session and was unbeatable throughout. A small hiccup came late on, when a flying lap was deleted as he exceeded track limits. However, Voisin improved on the earlier time to secure his place at the top of the order.

Behind him, Tom Lebbon and Freddie Tomlinson swapped times in the battle for second. Lebbon came out on top with his last lap of the morning, but it was still more than half a second slower than Voisin’s 1m38.378s.

It was a difficult session for Georgi Dimitrov, who was forced to come to the pits early on with an apparent mechanical issue. The Richardson Racing team worked hard to try to get him back out, but the issue couldn’t be solved to the pit lane and he sat the rest of the session out. Having not set a lap time he starts from the back of the grid.

Tom Edgar put himself third on the grid ahead of Josh Rattican and Will Jenkins, who carries forward strong momentum after a positive weekend at Silverstone.

Will Vincent also put in an impressive performance. He briefly placed fifth before having a lap time removed for exceeding track limits. He dropped back out of the top 10, only to improve again and finish sixth.

Seb Hopkins and early pace setter Aston Millar took seventh and eighth while Joel Pearson and Tomlinson completed the top 10.
