R Racing has announced a six car line-up for its third season in the Ginetta Junior championship.
The squad aims to build on a successful season in 2020, in which R Racing claimed the teams’ championship and helped Bailey Voisin to third in the drivers’ championship.
Voisin’s younger brother Callum will be one of two rookie drivers joining R Racing for the 2021 season, along with four drivers with more experience in the championship.
Freddie Tomlinson and Aston Millar will both continue with R Racing after spending 2020 with the team. Tomlinson, now heading into his third season in the champinship, claimed this maiden podium at Croft last year on his way to ninth in the standings. Millar spent much of the season battling at the front of the order and claimed numerous rookie podiums on his way to a top 10 finish in the overall championship.
Tom Edgar and Josh Miller will make the switch to R Racing from Total Control Racing and Elite Motorsport respectively. Both impressed in their rookie seasons. Edgar claimed two overall podiums, while a strong learning year ended with a victory in the final race of the season for Miller.
Scholarship finalist Ian Aguilera completes the line-up.
“I couldn’t be happier with the team Nathan [Read] and I have around us,” said team principal Jamie ross. “Off the back of last year’s teams’ title, we are very proud of how such a large number of people gelled in a short space of time and brought home so much team success. A huge thank you to everyone part of that, and to STAUFF UK who have helped us achieve our ambitions.
“Each year our aim is to become stronger and picking our line-up for 2021 took lots of thought and consideration. We wanted drivers and families that would gel with the team and make the awning an enjoyable place ot be. I feel we have a good mix of existing drivers and new faces to keep pushing the team forward.
“We have a good winter testing programme in place and hope to make lots of progress with Phil Glew and Ash Sutton working their magic, and with our line-up I’m confident we have drivers who will deliver throughout the season.”
