Assetto Motorsport will expand to a three-car line-up for the 2021 Ginetta Junior championship.
The G40 Cup winning team joined the Junior championship with Joe Wheeler in 2020. Wheeler finished 17th in the overall championship with a best finish of 9th at Snetterton.
Assetto announced its first driver earlier this month, with rookie Maxwell Dodds making his step up to car racing with the team.
Dodds will be joined by fellow Scholarship finalist Harri Reynolds and the returning Wheeler.
“The whole team at Assetto Motorsport are delighted to be expanding our presence in the Ginetta Juniors this year,” said team manager Jim Edwards. “We had a great first season with Joe and can’t wait to see what we can achieve in 2021.
“It’s fantastic to have Joe back with us for a second season. He showed serious flashes of speed despite only deciding to compete immediately prior to the first round. We’re confident Joe will flourish with our expanded tea and we’re targeting podium finishes.
“I was bowled over the moment I met Max; he is an incredibly polite, confident and professional young man. His pace was clear to see immediately despite his lack of car experience, and we are excited to be able to provide Max with the car and surroundings he required to succeed in Ginetta Juniors.
“We are equally excited to welcome Harri to the team. His raw speed immediately caught our attention during the Scholarship. Harri has had a successful karting background and we are looking forward to helping him to continue this in Ginetta Juniors.”
The 2021 Ginetta Junior championship begins in May at Thruxton, after TOCA made the decision to postpone the start of the season.
