Callum Voisin earns his maiden pole position in the 2021 Ginetta Junior championship, narrowly beating Liam McNeilly to the top of the times in qualifying at Brands Hatch.
The two race winners were split by just 0.033s around the Indy circuit as Voisin ended the morning with a lap time of 57.239s.
McNeilly topped the times early in the session and gradually lowered the benchmark. He didn’t quite have enough to take the overall fastest time, but his consistency means the Fox Motorsport driver will be on pole for the second race of the weekend, where the grid is determined by second fastest lap times. There, Voisin will start alongside him in P2.
Seb Hopkins spent much of the session running P2 before Voisin’s late improvement. He ended qualifying P3 overall, ahead of championship leader Tom Edgar and Aston Millar.
Will Jenkins claimed sixth ahead of Josh Miller. However, Miller’s second fastest lap time places him third on the grid for race 2, ahead of Edgar and Hopkins.
Freddie Tomlinson finished eighth overall while Jamie Osbourne and James Higgens completed the top 10. Maurice Henry in P11 was the third quickest rookie.
