Callum Voisin led the way in qualifying as the Ginetta Junior championship returned to Thruxton for the sixth round of the series.
Voisin topped the order in a dry free practice session, managing a 1m31.246s lap around the UK’s fastest race circuit.
The time put him just under a tenth of a second clear of the rest of the field, which was led by Elite Motorsport’s Will Jenkins.
Jenkins had been running P2 for most of the session, about 0.15s off Voisin’s pace, but a stunning final lap brought him to within 0.096s of the R Racing driver and secured his position at the front of the order in the grid set by the second fastest lap times.
Championship leader Aston Millar set the pace early on ahead of Robert de Haan and Harri Reynolds, though all three fell backwards as others set their flying laps. Millar would end the session fourth, behind Liam McNeilly.
Seb Hopkins took fifth ahead of Aqil Alibhai and de Haan.
Reynolds, Freddie Tomlinson and Max Hall completed the top 10.
