Alisha Palmowski named 2022 Ginetta Scholar

Daniel Ricciardo Series runner-up Alisha Palmowski wins the 2022 Ginetta Junior Scholarship.

Palmowski beat out more than 60 other drivers to be selected for the prize, which includes free entry to the 2022 Ginetta Junior Championship.

She was selected after a three day event at Ginetta’s Blyton Park circuit. 23 drivers made it down to the final day, where driving ability, fitness, and media skills were assessed with the help of industry experts.

Palmowski was joined by William Macintyre, Jack James, Jez Williams, and Joe Cheek in the final stages of the competition and emerged on top.

Last season, Ginetta made the decision to award the prize to two winners, but this year only one was selected.

Palmowski began karting in 2015 and attended the Daytona Race School in Manchester that same year. In 2018 she took her first title, becoming the BirelART UK Junior 100 rookie champion before making the switch to the Daniel Ricciardo Series.

In 2020, she began testing G40s while racing to second in the DRS championship. At the end of the year she competed for the scholarship and made it to the finals, but narrowly missed out. Better prepared, Palmowski was back for the 2022 scholarship.

Palmowski is the second female driver to be awarded the scholarship. W Series champion Jamie Chadwick took the 2013 scholarship and would spend two years in the series competing with JHR Developments.

Palmowski is yet to reveal which team she will be racing with next year. As part of the prize, she will receive the use of one of Ginetta’s G40 cars for the entirety of the season and an experienced team to run the car. Insurance, a season’s supply of tyres and fuel, and a race suit are also included.
