Sonny Smith takes pole position from Harri Reynolds in Ginetta Junior qualifying at Croft.
The R Racing driver had his first lap time deleted for exceeding track limits, but shot to the top of the order with his second flying lap.
With laps limited in the new qualifying format, Smith was only able to put in one additional time to secure his grid position in race two, and couldn’t match his earlier time.
Kanto Le set the pace after the first laps ahead of Luke Watts and Reynolds.
Reynolds then jumped to the top of the order, but was soon knocked off the top spot by Smith, who put in a time of 1m40.099s.
Reynolds settled for second overall, though his second fastest lap time was enough to put him on pole for the second race of the weekend.
Championship leader Josh Rowledge could only manage seventh quickest, behind Will Macintyre, who will start second on the grid for race two. Rowledge’s second fastest lap time earned a slightly better position for race two, putting him fouth on the grid ahead of Smith.
Kanto Le will start third for both races while Alisha Palmowshi earned her best qualifying of the season with a late flying lap which put her fourth overall.
The late lap knocked Joe Warhurst down to fifth. He starts ahead of Macintyre, Rowledge, and Watts.
Maurice Henry was the top Fox Motorsport driver in P9, qualifying just ahead of Aqil Alibahi.
