Will Macintyre takes his fourth victory of the season ahead of Josh Rowledge in the opening race of the weekend at Thruxton.
Mcintyre, who took two second place finishes the last time the championship came to Hampshire, passed pole sitter Kanato Le late on to take the win.
Le got a good start from pole position while Macintyre tried to bring the fight to second placed Harri Reynolds straight away. Reynolds couldn’t hold onto the position, but it was Liam McNeilly who came through to take second.
As Reynolds battled to stay in the podium positions, Le and McNeilly broke away from the rest of the field and were more than 1.6 ahead when the battle for third cleared.
Reynolds tumbled down the order, allowing Macintyre to come through and take third. He had Rowledge and Joe Warhurst close behind but the fight did not continue. Instead the group closed in on the race leaders, making it a multi-car battle for the lead.
Macintyre and Rowledge quickly found a way past McNeilly and kept the pressure on Le in the closing stages of the race.
Le would hold onto the lead for a short while but was then shuffled to the back of the group as Macintyre, Rowledge and McNeilly came through. He managed to reclaim one position, but an incident at the complex on the final lap sent Le plummeting down the order.
Macintyre took the victory, 0.393s ahead of Rowledge.
A late charge from Aqil Alibhai made it an Elite Motorsport 1-3.
McNeilly finished fourth, ahead of Warhurst and Sonny Smith, who was leading a train of cars.
Reynolds was close behind Smith, with Maurice Henry, McKenzie Douglass and Zak Meakin also in the train.
