Karting star Chase Fernandez has been crowned the 2023 Ginetta Junior scholar.
Fernandez, who was driving an Assetto Motorsport run car at the scholarship shoot-out, came out on top in the competition.
The teenager will now make the step up to car racing next season with a fully funded season in the Ginetta Junior championship.
Fernandez was one of dozens of young drivers who went to the Ginetta’s Blyton Park circuit for the three-day event. The list of hopefuls was whittled down to just 28 for the final day of running in wet conditions.
Fernandez impressed throughout the day as the young drivers were tested in their race craft, fitness, and media abilities.
He as joined in the final four by Charlie Hart, Daniel Munro and Leo Robinson. But in the end it was the Oldham based teen that came out on top.
Fernandez will now receive a prize which includes race fees for the 2023 season, the use of a Ginetta car, prepared by an experienced team, a race suit and consumables.
Announcements about where Fernandez will be driving next year are expected in the coming months.
