A last minute lap puts Alisha Palmowski top of the order in qualifying for the second day of the 2022 Ginetta Junior Winter Series.

Freddie Slater and Luke Watts had been swapping times at the top of the order for most of the session while Palmowski ran in the mid-field. But a last flying lap allowed the 2021 Ginetta Junior Scholar to jump up to the top of the times with a lap of 59.021s.

Luca Hopkinson set the pace early on, but was soon knocked down the order by race two winner Freddie Slater. Championship leader Luke Watts soon joined him at the top of the order. The pair gradually lowered the benchmark to under one minute around the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

Slater managed a 59.527s in the closing stages of the session and looked set to top the order before a late flying lap from Palmowski.

Palmowski’s 59.021s put her at the top of the order. Slater improved again to go within 0.081s of Palmowski but couldn’t claim pole.

After a difficult Saturday running, McKenzie Douglass bounced back in qualifying to set the third quickest time, ahead of Hopkinson and Reza Seewooruthun.

Thomas Spragg placed sixth, ahead of Watts, who dropped back late on.

Finn Harrison took eighth ahead of Mikey Porter, who was one of the driver who had a lap time removed as he exceeded track limits. Porter dropped back from fifth to ninth.

Charlie Hart completed the top 10.
