How the championship fight has shaped up

Heading into the summer break, Elite Motorsport’s James Hedley leads the championship by almost 100 points.

Hedley has been on a charge in this early part of the season and has led the championship since the opening round of the season, but can anybody knock him off the top spot after the summer break.

This is how the top 10 has looked throughout the first five rounds of the seaosn (ignoring penalty points):

James Hedley and Zak O’Sullivan have been at the top of the order throughout the year. A few difficult rounds for James Taylor has dropped the Richardson Racing driver down the order while his team-mate Will Martin has been gathering momentum over the past few weekends.

This graph highlights how Hedley’s consistency has allowed him to build that advantage, but also how quickly Martin, Ethan Hawley, and Gus Burton have climbed up the order (hover over a line to display details)

With more than half the season still to go, including the postponed race from Croft, it’s far too early to predict how the standings will look at the end of the year. Hedley may be in pole position now but, if we’ve learned anything from the first half of the year it’s that anything can happen in Ginetta Juniors.
