Elite Motorsport adds Seb Hopkins to 2020 line-up

Ginetta Junior champions Elite Motorsport has added a second Scholarship finalist to its line-up for the 2020 season.

Seb Hopkins will join the already confirmed Tommy Pintos at Elite next year.

The 13-year-old (who turns 14 and meets the minimum age requirements tomorrow) only made his kart racing debut two years ago. In that time, he has taken multiple victories, finishing third in the IKR Summer championship and winning the Winter Championship.

He makes the step up to car racing after making it to the final 12 of the Ginetta Junior Scholarship, which was won by Tom Lebbon.

“I’m really excited to confirm that I will be racing for Elite Motorsport in the prestigious Ginetta Junior Championship for 2020!” Hopkins said.

“I’m sure as ever it will be a really competitive grid, but I’m hoping that I can rise to the challenge… and see over the dashboard.”

Hopkins is already familiar with the team, who ran his father Jamie Hopkins in the Ginetta GRDC, G40 and Supercup championships.

Seb has been part of the team for a few years now,” said team owner Eddie Ives. “Having run his dad Jamie in the GRC, G40 and Supercup, I’m extremely pleased Seb is now ready for Ginetta Juniors. He is a brilliant addition to the team and I look forward to getting him up to the sharp end of the Ginetta Junior grid in 2020.”
