Ginetta has confirmed the provisional calendar for the revised 2020 Ginetta Junior Championship.
The season will take place across eight rounds, starting at Donington Park in early August.
It will continue to race solely on the British Touring Car Championship support package, running on all but one of the scheduled BTCC weekends.
“In these incredibly challenging times, we’re pleased to have been able to work with TOCA and SRO to put revised calendars together for our championships,” said Ginetta Motorsport Manager Ashley Gallagher. “This gives our teams and drivers the chance to prepare their efforts accordingly.
“It will be a busy few months and we’ll be working with all members of the Ginetta family to ensure the remaining race events run smoothly, with the focus on making sure the correct procedures and protocols are in place so we can race in a safe environment.”
This new calendar remains provisional and the season could be further pushed back depending on advice from the UK government.
The season was originally supposed to take place over nine weekends. For the first time, the series would miss one BTCC rounds to ensure drivers could focus on their education in the summer months.
Motorsport UK and TOCA’s decision to push back the start of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic means the BTCC was forced to cancel a second trip to Silverstone to race on the International layout.
The championship is also set to end later than usual, with the final race of the season taking place at Brands Hatch in mid-November. It’s not currently known what this will mean for the Winter Championship or Scholarship.
