Tom Lebbon closes in on Bailey Voisin’s championship lead with victory in the second Ginetta Junior race of the weekend at Croft.
Lebbon was pretty much untouchable throughout the race. Starting from pole, he did come under pressure from Aston Millar in the opening laps but quickly pulled away from the R Racing driver.
Lebbon’s charge was only helped as those beind him began to battle position. Tom Edgar, who had started second and fallen back on the opening laps, tried to reclaim positions, while Will Vincent, Millar, and Josh Rattican also joined the fight.
Vincent and Egdar collided will battling for position, sending both drivers into a spin and collecting Millar in the princess.
By the end of the attack, it was Freddie Tomlinson leading the charge. He couldn’t begin to close the gap t oLebbon, though, as he too fell into the battle for second.
Lebbon came home at the end of the 8 laps almost seven seconds ahead of the battle, while Tomlinson held on to claim P2.
Race one winner Rattican completed the podium ahead of Joel Pearson and Will Jenkins.
Championship leader Bailey Voisin had another disappointing weekend. After stating from the pit lane, it wasn’t long before he was back in with an apparent mechanical issue and he wouldn’t get back out.
Edgar dropped back to sixth by the chequered flag, holding off Josh Miller to retain the position.
At the back end of the top 10, the positions changed almost every lap, with Will Aspin, Georgi Dimitrov, and Tommy Pintos each took turns leading the battle.
Aspin jumped up to ninth on the final lap, while Pintos denied Dimitrov a top 10 finish.
